GLOBALFOUNDRIES will invest 1.2 billion EUR in the expansion of their wafer manufacturing facility in Dresden (Germany). Until 2012, the plant shall be one of the largest in the world. The expansion will see a new facility constructed at Fab 1 that will add nearly 10,000 square meters of cleanroom space to scale the output of 300 mm wafers to 80,000 per month.
