Project Description
Espros Photonics AG, epc builds a new semiconductor plant inside the Gonzen mountain range. For this project, so far unique for Europe, around 55,000 square meters of rocks have be breaked. The t-shaped plant shall consist of 2 caverns with a length of 90 and 60 m, a width of 18 m and a height of 18 m. In addition to safety aspects, the “mountain fab” provides further advantages: low vibration values, little land use, 50 % of energy saving. Total investment amounts to around 120 million CHF; in the medium-term 500 new jobs shall be created.
